Making the Most of Each Trip


So far, in this series, we've discussed ways to reduce travel, build trust and deliver faster, reliable quotes in order to improve your chances of landing the job.

In this section, we're going to discuss how to increase your per-trip revenue.

You should strive to optimize your visit to each property by securing additional jobs from the customer. This will limit your overall travel time and maximize revenue-generating hours.

Many professional window cleaners offer additional services, such as:

  • Pressure washing
  • Soft washing
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Dryer vent cleaning

However, it's often the case that customers are not aware that a window cleaning business offers these additional services. Most of the time they are not even looking for these services, or not even aware they have a need for them until you point it out.

Therefore, when quoting for a window cleaning job, always mention the other services you provide. An even better option would be to actually quote for these additional services along with your window cleaning quote. This would allow the customer to consider the options and accept everything they require in one shot.

In order to give an accurate quote for other services, it would certainly help if you could see the home so you can better advise on what is needed. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that you need to visit. If you're using the photo approach we recommended previously, you may be able to see other services that the customer could benefit from. This becomes even easier if the tool you're using to manage those photo-quotes can facilitate the quoting and the acceptance of several services at once.

For instance, say you receive a Snappy Bids quote request for window cleaning. As you review the pictures, you notice how discolored the driveway is. You also see siding that could benefit from a soft washing. As you send your window cleaning quote, you also submit quotes for pressure washing and soft washing. The customer can then accept any or all of these quotes. Generally, customers sign up for more than one service, which translates to increased revenue and an optimized trip.
